Frequently asked questions
Practical answers for applying this calculator to a production API billing or usage plan.
Are API credits the same as dollars?
Not necessarily. A platform chooses its own conversion rate and may charge different credit amounts by model, token type, tool, or media operation.
How do I calculate credits per request?
Multiply average tokens per request by credits per million tokens, divide by one million, then add any fixed tool or request credits.
Should a credit value ever change?
Stable customer-facing credits are easier to understand. If upstream costs change, update model-specific credit charges rather than silently changing the value of existing balances.
